Why Writing is Important

Everyone writes. From executive offices to the front lines, people in most industries spend a large part of every day writing and reading.

Given the speed and complexity of business today, we are all overwhelmed by the amount of information we need to read, write and act on. Few of us have the time or patience to decipher writing that lacks purpose, clarity or structure. We are all grateful to receive a well-written document that engages us and conveys its message clearly and quickly.

Improving organizational writing skills enhances productivity and effectiveness: skilled writers produce more effective documents in less time. Better emails, letters and proposals mean stronger client relationships and better internal reports mean more effective and efficient decision-making.

Our courses show you how to address the needs of your readers and teach you how to write letters, emails and reports that are clear, concise and persuasive.

Our Approach

Participants regularly comment on how interesting we make our courses. They’re surprised, but we aren’t. At Brunerbiz, we all find writing interesting and are passionate about helping our learners gain the skills they need to be more confident writers. Our facilitators are consistently evaluated as being enthusiastic, articulate, patient and knowledgeable.

Our course designs are interactive. We keep lectures to a minimum and make them interesting by telling relevant anecdotes, asking and inviting questions, and presenting interesting examples.

We use energizers, brain teasers and games to keep the energy high throughout the day. Participants have opportunities to work in small groups and pairs throughout the day. We find this encourages a healthy sharing of ideas and knowledge. We encourage participants to work on their own writing.

Adult learners are sensitive about their writing skills. We ensure everyone is comfortable and feels safe. Learners are never put on the spot and we never critique their writing samples in front of the group. We do like to keep the groups small enough to allow us to provide one-on-one coaching where possible.

How We Customize Our Courses

Each participant completes a pre-course survey and submits two writing samples. We review the writing samples and surveys to better understand your needs and tailor the content to best meet those needs. Sometimes we create case studies, exercises, before-and-after examples, or positive examples from the writing samples.

Course Materials

We hear from our graduates that they find their course manuals a valuable reference after the course is done.

The manuals include all the lessons, exercises and answers. They also include templates, examples and editing checklists for participants to use after the course. Wherever possible, we include laminated tip sheets.

Participants tell us they like how our manuals are laid out. They find the consistent hierarchical structure makes information easy to retrieve. Everyone appreciates the quotations on each page, which are chosen to inspire and entertain.
